Designed With You in Mind

Our over 60s classes are led by experienced, supportive instructors who understand that everyone’s fitness journey is different. Sessions are welcoming, adaptable and suitable for a range of abilities – whether you’re returning to exercise, managing a health condition, or simply looking to stay active and social.

With studio classes, gym-based sessions and pool activities all under one roof at Moray Leisure Centre, it’s easy to find something that fits your routine.

Staying active isn’t about age – it’s about feeling your best, staying connected, and enjoying movement every day.

Lane Swimming – Go at Your Own Pace and Feel the Benefits

Lane swimming at Moray Leisure Centre offers a calm, structured space where you can enjoy the water at a speed that suits you. You’re free to swim comfortably and confidently – no pressure, just steady movement.

A slow, relaxing swim is a fantastic low-impact workout. The water supports your joints while gently improving heart health, strength, flexibility and stamina. It also provides natural resistance without strain, making it ideal for maintaining mobility as you age.

Beyond the physical benefits, swimming is wonderfully calming. The rhythm of your strokes and breathing can ease stress, lift your mood and leave you feeling refreshed – making it one of the simplest and most enjoyable ways to support both body and mind.

Check lane availability on our Main Pool Timetable here , but please note these can change at any time.

Staying Strong and Active in the Gym

At Moray Leisure Centre, the gym provides a friendly, supportive space for over 60s to maintain strength and heart health.

Light resistance training using dumbbells or machines – such as leg press, seated row and chest press – helps preserve muscle, support bone health and make everyday tasks easier. From carrying the shopping to climbing stairs, work in the gym will pay off when daily tasks feel like less effort.

For cardio, a steady treadmill walk is simple and highly effective. You can set a comfortable pace and gradually build stamina. Low-impact options like the stationary bike or cross trainer are also gentle on the joints while improving cardiovascular fitness.

Adding basic balance and core exercises further supports stability and confidence.

The focus isn’t intensity – it’s consistency. A regular mix of light weights and steady cardio helps you stay strong, mobile and independent for longer.

Refuel, Relax and Connect at the Café

A visit to Moray Leisure Centre doesn’t have to end when your workout does. The on-site café is the perfect place to unwind, refuel and catch up with friends.

With a wide selection of hot food, freshly made paninis, toasties and sandwiches, as well as tempting cakes, coffees and cold drinks, there’s something to suit every appetite – whether you’re after a light bite or a well-earned treat after your swim or gym session.

The newly installed seating creates a comfortable, welcoming space where you can sit back and relax. It’s an ideal meeting spot – whether you’ve just finished a class, enjoyed a lane swim, or simply popped in for a chat.

For many of our members, the social side of staying active is just as important as the exercise itself. Sharing a coffee after a class, meeting familiar faces each week, and being part of a friendly community all contribute to wellbeing. At Moray Leisure Centre, it’s not just about keeping active – it’s about staying connected too.

Wherever you’re starting from and wherever you want to take your fitness journey, rest assured that our team will support you every step of the way.

Supporting our community is at the heart of everything we do, and we take pride doing it 💙
